Our church building is over 40 years old. The front half of
the building where the sanctuary is was built out of adobe, and the back half
containing the office, kitchen, parsonage was built out of cement. The
front of the building is slowly deteriorating and needs to be torn down and
rebuilt. The church has saved almost $15,000 of the approximately $100,000
needed to rebuild.
There are three phases of this project:
1.) Immediate remodeling. As rainy season approaches
we urgently need to replace the roof on the second floor which has a heavy
layer of adobe on it, and with the winds and rains the plaster on the underside
is falling into the classrooms and water is coming through.
2.) Land purchase. The neighbor has offered to sell us
some of his land to the right of us. We are also looking to buy the land on the
other side of the church which belongs to a bar.
3.) Demolition and reconstruction. The final goal is
to demolish the entire building and rebuild it to include more ample space in
the sanctuary and classrooms as well as one floor for the parsonage.
